WELCOME TO PERSHING!
Dear Pershing Families,
Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year!
We hope you’ve enjoyed a wonderful summer and are looking forward to the exciting year ahead. My name is Trina Stein, and I am excited to serve as this year’s Pershing PTO President. As a parent of a seventh-grade student in the Choir Magnet program, I understand that the start of a new school year brings a mix of excitement, anticipation, and sometimes a few questions and uncertainties - for both students and parents.
Please know that the Pershing PTO is here to support you. Our goal is to help create an engaging, connected, and positive experience for the students and families in our school community. We have many opportunities planned throughout the year for families to get involved and connect with one another, including:
- Open House
- Parent-Teacher Socials
- Coffee with the Principal
- Fall Dances
- Homecoming Spirit Week
- PTO Meetings
- And many other fun and meaningful events
Our first PTO meeting will be held on August 26 at 6:00 p.m. and will feature members of our school administration for a question-and-answer session. We hope you’ll join us to learn more about the year ahead and share your thoughts and questions.
As we prepare to welcome students back, we are especially excited about Panda Camp on August 6 from 2:30 - 4:30 p.m. This event is designed to help our incoming sixth graders feel comfortable and confident as they begin their middle school journey. We know that transitioning to a new school can feel overwhelming, and Panda Camp is a wonderful opportunity for students to get familiar with Pershing and begin building connections. Incoming seventh and eighth graders may arrive from 4:30-6:30 p.m. to pick up schedules and meet their teachers.
We are also happy to welcome Kona Ice from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. that day. Not only is it a fun treat for students and families, but 20% of all sales will be donated to the Pershing PTO to help support student activities throughout the year.
A quick reminder regarding uniforms: families who place uniform orders online by August 4 may pick them up on August 6. To help avoid long wait times, we strongly encourage ordering in advance, as lines may be lengthy for purchases made on-site during Panda Camp. We are also looking for volunteers to assist with uniform distribution. If you have a little time to give, we would greatly appreciate your help. Every volunteer makes a difference and helps strengthen our school community.

One of the greatest strengths of Pershing is the incredible partnership between families, teachers, staff, and students. We are fortunate to have a dedicated PTO board and a community of parents who care deeply about making Pershing a place where students can thrive. Whether you’re able to volunteer at an event, share your talents, make a donation, or simply stay informed and engaged, your participation matters and is truly valued. Please consider volunteering with us by filling out the PTO Volunteer Interest Form.
We will share important updates throughout the year in the Panda Post, as well as on our PTO social media pages. We encourage you to follow us on Facebook and Instagram to stay connected and receive timely information about upcoming events and opportunities.
